Creating my space stage 2 – Storing the stash

Oooh, this has been a productive and creative week, and I’ve scored some new skills! Exciting!

You’ve seen the state of our laundry/study/creative space here, and holy smoke has the situation changed!! You can see the desk! There is space in the cupboards! And I’ve used six exclamation marks already πŸ™‚

The biggest change was the addition of an industrial shelving unit in the hallway door. The laundry has three doors – outside, kitchen and hallway. It made most sense to sacrifice the hallway door, and having lived with it for a little while now, it really isn’t much of a sacrifice, considering what we’ve gained.

I was going for the industrial look, I'm just so on trend!

I bought a range of small plastic tubs to corral all my sewing bits and pieces, and all of a sudden, everything had a home.

Oooh, look how organised it all is now! A place for everything...

Of course, without labels, things would just get shoved in where ever there was space, so my next job was to create some labels. I’ve just started a Certificate III in Media (which I’m loving), and we had our first class last night. I’ve been faffing about with photoshop for a little while, but it rocks to have some proper instruction on how to use it. As a result, I’ve had a go at creating my own labels for the first time, using Photoshop.

Look at my pretty labels! I thought I'd colour them in, but as if I've got time!

Once I get a bit more efficient, I’ll post a tutorial so you can make your own.

In the meantime, look at my pretty shelves!
