Some days I think I missed my calling. I see Toddlers and Tiaras and worry that Clara doesn’t wear enough sequins. Priscilla, Queen of the Desert gives me goosebumps, and don’t get me started on Miss America! Enough satin, taffeta, tulle and diamantes to sink a very sparkly ship!
So when a little birdie told me that a fabric store in Perth was closing down, and had incredible silk, embroidered and beaded lace and other delicious things for $4 PER METRE(!!!!), I leaped at the chance to bling my stash.
Thanks to my beautiful mothers’ group connections, I was able to order 15 metres over the phone, and then have a friend collect it, pop it in a post pack, and send it to me.
I have a quiet little idea for a side line business, so all things going to plan, this will be the beginning of something fun 🙂 I definitely have a lot to learn about working with such spectacular fabrics.
As an aside, my awesome uncle Tim wrote part of the score for the Priscilla stage show, and took me on a tour backstage of the London production. It was unreal. I still regret not meeting Jason Donovan though…
